Friends Egg Hunt and Cake Sale

Ancient Mayans in Oak
This week in Oak Class, the children have been busy in science investigating electrical conductors and insulators. It was fascinating to discover that some metals samples didn’t behave quite as expected – having very low electrical conductivity. Continuing with our exploration of the ancient Maya civilisation, the children learnt about the traditional ball game Pok-ta-Pok. DT fun in Apple
This week, Apple class have been busy working on a DT project. We have worked hard to design and make our own model cars and were very lucky to have help from the year 6 children on Tuesday, getting us off to a great start! By Thursday, our cars were complete and we are now evaluating our projects against our design criteria. Next week we are going to work with Oak class to hold a car race! Stories and Shang dynasty in Hazel
Hazel has worked incredibly hard on their ‘Iron Man’ unit, showing great creativity in planning and writing their own imaginative story. The children designed an original monster, along with an exciting challenge and a thoughtful resolution. Maths, kite flying and dragon bones in Hazel
In Maths, we’ve started an exciting new topic on mass and capacity. Today, the children had great fun estimating the weight of different fruits and discussing their ideas. In History, we explored the social hierarchy of the Shang Dynasty and compared it to modern society. We also learned about the fascinating use of “dragon bones” in ancient medicine, which sparked lots of curiosity and discussion. This week the children have worked hard and had lots of fun.
