Hazel Class have had a brilliant start to the term! So far, we have: Watched the short animation The Present and used it to help create our Hazel Class Charter. Started reading our new English text, Leon and the Place Between. Been learning about place value within 10,000 in Maths. Practised our joined handwriting and the spelling patterns for the long /a/ sound (eigh, ai, ay, a-e, and ei). We have also been learning our new classroom routines and expectations and settling in

It has been a lovely first day at Swainswick Church School, and we couldn’t have asked for a more positive start to the new school year. As the new Head of School, I have really enjoyed meeting so many of the children, visiting the classrooms and sharing our hopes for the new year though our first assembly. I even had an impromptu question and answer session with Year 5 and 6, who had some fantastic ideas for school improvements. It has been wonderful to see everyone settling

It’s a wrap! And just like that, it’s time for the summer holidays. We’ve had some brilliant things going on this week. On Monday, we started the week with our Leaver’s Service. Year 6 did a brilliant job, and it was lovely to be together in Swainswick Church singing, sharing pictures, memories and looking forward to the exciting opportunities on the horizon for Year 6. Hazel class took the opportunity to read in unusual places on pyjama day. They also loved their water play with Mr Griggs.

We spent time together this morning at Swainswick Church celebrating the end of a brilliant year. We said some special goodbyes to Miss Dawn, Miss Griffin, Miss Press, who are all moving on to new adventures next year, and of course, goodbye to Year 6. I was very surprised when the programme was interrupted to say goodbye to me also- this was very kind of everyone. Year 6 shared a wonderful service, including some favourite songs (Singsational, Leaver's Song and Anchor's Away

It's been another jam-packed week of exciting events. Hazel class have wowed us all with their amazing performances of, 'The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse.' Their singing and acting was fantastic, and the production shared very moving messages- being kind is the most important thing, you are enough just as you are, don't compare yourself to anyone else and home is where your friends and family are. It was hard to find dry eyes in the house as the performance took place

Earlier this week, it was game on! Guided by Mrs Tiller and working in pairs, the children took inspiration from their favourite games to design and create their own original versions. They worked collaboratively to cut, fold, colour, paint and write, demonstrating fantastic teamwork and creativity. Once completed, they enjoyed setting up and playing their finished games together, with plenty of smiles and laughter along the way.
