As we approach the end of term, we have had another busy week filled with fun and excitement. Each class has had lots of fun and produced some amazing work. Well done to everyone for all of your hard work this term.

In collective worship, we learnt about the perseverance of speed skater Stephen Bradbury, who won Australia's first gold medal in the Winter Olympics in 2002. He competed in four Winter Olympics and overcame severe injury to win. We finished by reflecting on and celebrating the perseverance that we have shown this term, whether it is handwriting, maths or sports.

Miss Hitchcock recently attended our Trust English Leaders Hub meeting with all other English leaders from the BWMAT, led by Claire Doris. These meetings are held three times a year. As part of this training, leaders look at the latest research, discuss strategies used in schools and plan for staff training in the following terms. As always, Miss Hitchcock has come back to school with lots of exciting updates and strategies to share that will enhance the learning for all pupils at Swainswick. This term's session was particularly focused around reading and spelling.

Mr Griggs has also been to the Science network meeting where, alongside Science leaders from across the trust, he has been planning for an exciting science week which will promote curiosity and enquiry. We look forward to week beginning 9th March, where all classes will take part in this national event- the theme is 'Curiosity- what's your question?'.

In other news:

Governor Vacancies:  Currently, we are looking to recruit three more volunteers to join our Trust Local Committee (TLC). TLC members work closely with the school leaders to help ensure that the school provides the best possible education for all pupils. They do not typically get involved in the day-to-day running of the school, but play a vital strategic role. TLC members come from a range of backgrounds and bring a variety of skills and experiences to the role. This helps ensure that decisions are well informed and made in the best interests of the pupils and the wider school community. If you are interested in becoming a Governor at Swainswick or finding out more about this role, please contact Christine Iles: christine.iles@swainswick.bwmat.org

After school club: After school club runs at Swainswick from Monday - Thursday, after school until 5.30pm for £12.50 per pupil, per session. Children can enjoy the school grounds and have fun building, creating and playing with their friends. There are often spaces available so if your child would like to attend after school club, please book on the Arbor app.

“She has really benefited from the different ages mixing, she often talks of the older children.

We feel all the staff know her, which is so special.”
