Weekly Roundup

It’s been a great week at Swainswick, with so much happening this week!

Year 6 have worked very hard completing their SATs assessments. We would like to say a huge well done to the year 6 children for the effort they have put into their SATs this week. Thank you also to Mrs Coleman who has supported them so well throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who's helped and supported this week to enable the smooth running of the SATs, either at the Church or in the classroom- it's been really appreciated.

We’ve received some lovely feedback from a student who has completed a university placement in Oak class. Miss Prasad shared on LinkedIn, “I’ve just completed a placement at Swainswick Primary School, and can confidently say it has been my favourite placement so far. The placement deepened my understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive practice and gave me valuable hands-on experience in a mixed age setting. Experiences like this reaffirm my passion for primary education and my goal of creating inclusive, engaging learning spaces for all children.” What a wonderful message for us all to receive on a Thursday morning  😊

We have also welcomed Miss Woodford into Apple class. It’s been great for her to meet the children and get to know the team, and lovely for us to spend time with Miss Woodford too. Miss Woodford will be starting with us full time next week and will be teaching Apple class.

INSET days- Wednesday 18th June, Monday 21st July, Tuesday 22nd July:

As you will be aware, we have 3 INSET days coming up.

Our INSET day on Wednesday 18th is a really special one for staff, as this is a Trust wide INSET day. All staff from every school in the BWMAT will be coming together to attend BWMAT Fest at the Bath and West Showground. This is a pioneering educational festival which is being run by our Trust for the first time this year! It will be a fantastic opportunity for staff to listen to expert speakers discussing a huge range of topics, from starting well together in Early Years and building cultural capital to meeting the needs of every learner in a changing landscape. This professional development training will ensure we have the very best expertise in ensuring your child has the best educational opportunities in our school.

We look forward to sharing with you some of our learning from this event.

A message from Friends of Swainswick School: SUMMER FAIR!

Summer is almost here and so is the school Summer Fair which will be held on Saturday 5th July 1-3pm at school. Info about volunteering will be circulated soon so do start thinking about if you’d like to run a craft stall; bake or help in another way. We have lots planned! If you have an idea that you would like to implement at the fair please talk to Kelly. We hope lots of you can join us on the day.

“She has really benefited from the different ages mixing, she often talks of the older children.

We feel all the staff know her, which is so special.”
