Rivers, Teamwork and Shadow Puppets

This week, Oak Class began exploring our exciting new topic, Raging Rivers. We started by learning about some of the major rivers in the UK and were fascinated to discover that there are several rivers named Avon across the south of England.

The Year 6 children continue to be excellent role models for their Apple Class buddies, offering support during morning activities and at playtimes. We would also like to thank the Year 6 children for taking responsibility for keeping our playground tidy by helping to ensure play equipment is put away in the shed after use.

In Science, the children had great fun investigating how light travels. Using torches and sheets of paper, they explored how light moves in straight lines and discovered how shadows are formed when light is blocked. They then applied their learning creatively by designing and performing their own shadow puppet shows which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

“She has really benefited from the different ages mixing, she often talks of the older children.

We feel all the staff know her, which is so special.”
