Oak Class - Shadows, Senses and Swainswick Valley

This week in Oak Class, we have been exploring the beauty of autumn through our senses and using our experiences as inspiration for our writing. The children have written wonderful free verse poems about the Swainswick Valley, filled with vivid imagery and thoughtful observations of the season around us. We are very much looking forward to sharing some of our poetry at our Harvest Service next week.

In Science, we investigated how changing the distance between a light source and an object affects the shadows that are cast. The children enjoyed making predictions, carrying out investigations and observing how shadows become larger or smaller as the distance changes. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop our scientific thinking and enquiry skills.
