Amnesty International Visit
Last week, Hazel and Oak had an inspirational assembly, led by Natalie Oria, on Amnesty International. The children learnt all about the universal declaration of rights and how it came to be written in 1948 – covering how millions of people had perished in the 2nd world war and that many countries were deeply divided by racism and military oppression. The children learnt how 48 countries of the united nations had come together and decided that enough was enough. Nalalie led a thoroughly engaging discussion on the 30 rights and freedoms and how the children can help keep this discussion alive. The school, in particular upper key stage 2, will be working with Natalie and Amnesty International next term.
