Stories and Shang dynasty in Hazel
Hazel has worked incredibly hard on their ‘Iron Man’ unit, showing great creativity in planning and writing their own imaginative story. The children designed an original monster, along with an exciting challenge and a thoughtful resolution. In History, we have enjoyed creating our own Shang Dynasty artefacts, including vases, masks, turtles, and dragons, demonstrating both care and creativity. In Maths, we have been learning to compare masses and convert between grams and ki

Maths, kite flying and dragon bones in Hazel
In Maths, we’ve started an exciting new topic on mass and capacity. Today, the children had great fun estimating the weight of different fruits and discussing their ideas. In History, we explored the social hierarchy of the Shang Dynasty and compared it to modern society. We also learned about the fascinating use of “dragon bones” in ancient medicine, which sparked lots of curiosity and discussion. What fantastic weather we have had this week! The hills have been alive with the sound of music as each class has been busily preparing for the Spring Concert. The children can't wait to share their performances with you. Our value for the term is ‘Courage’. Some lovely comments overheard: "What a fantastic idea!" "This is like looking back at my childhood!" (From a year six child absolutely engaged

What a great week! The weather has been warm and we've even had some sunny days! Our value for the term is ‘Courage’, and this week we learnt about the 6 types of everyday courage: moral, social, emotional, intellectual, creative and physical. We discussed how we show these types of courage without even realising it. We celebrated World Book day with an amazing costume parade and we were very lucky to have Alice Tait join each class to complete a range of activities. See her

Herbs in Hazel
Last Friday we were delighted to welcome parents into the classroom to see us smell and taste a variety of herbs. Everyone had great fun exploring the different scents and flavours, and we each planted our own herb to take home! This week our tasting adventure continues as we will be smelling and tasting tomatoes. We are very excited to see what everyone thinks!
