Just like that, it’s the end of term 5 already! It’s been a great one with lots of fantastic things going on both in classes and out and about in the local area.

On Tuesday, Miss Hitchcock attended an English Leaders morning at Flourish House, where leaders from across the Trust got together to discuss research and resources that best support teaching English. It was great to hear all about this when Miss Hitchcock came back to school.

It’s not just the staff who have been busy. The children have been up to all sorts of exciting things.

What's been happening in classes:

Apple:

We have loved learning about minibeasts and have been busy connecting our learning to the story of Bill and Ben and the missing spider! In writing we made missing posters and had to think about using adjectives for our character descriptions. In maths we have had a focus on positional language and lots of children enjoyed hiding their spiders and describing where they were hidden. To see pictures, click here.

Hazel:

This week Hazel have been reading poems from a book called 'All the wild wonders', and decided to write some of our own poems! Sonia said, “It was really fun to designing my own poem. My favourite poem was called 'Leave the whales alone, please.’"

Josie said, "I liked this poem too, but thought that 'If you ever' was funny because it had a lot of repeating sentences." To see pictures of the poems, click here.

Oak:

On sunny days this week, Oak Class have enjoyed relaxing in a new area of the school grounds – our very own mini meadow!  Beneath the bunting and amongst the wildflowers, the children have enjoyed relaxing, sharing stories and laughing with friends.  Fingers crossed for more blue skies and sunshine in Term 6. See us relaxing here.

“She has really benefited from the different ages mixing, she often talks of the older children.

We feel all the staff know her, which is so special.”
