It’s been a jam packed week with lots of festive fun all round! On Monday, we celebrated together at Swainswick Church with our whole school Christmas service.

It was wonderful to hear from readers in Oak, enjoy beautiful musical performances from children across the school and hear from Reverend Cath. It was great to hear reflections about this from families on the gate, who shared, “It was magical, such a lovely festive feeling at school,” and “Joyous! Lovely to see and hear the children’s voices (and work)- wonderful community moments.” For pictures and some short videos, click here.

On Tuesday, we welcomed Faye Pinner, who is the senior assistant director of education in the trust. She worked with leaders across the school, celebrating progress we have made this academic year. Highlights included our updated approaches to our SEND paperwork (in line with Trust approaches) and our provision in phonics.

On Thursday, we had a very exciting festive day with Christmas jumpers, Christmas dinner and Christmas parties! It was such a fun celebration for everyone.

What's been happening in classes:

Apple:

Apple Class had a super time this week designing and sewing their own Christmas decorations! The final products look amazing! Click here to see pictures.

Hazel:  Wow! What an amazing week Hazel Class have had! 🎄✨ We’ve been full of festive cheer and creativity. The children created the most beautiful oil pastel Christmas cards and even crafted a cheeky Christmas Sprout. They have decorated gingerbread houses—what a treat! In English, the class wrote some truly wonderful Christmas poems, full of imagination and festive spirit. We ended the week with a Christmas party, complete with musical statues, and Hazel Class showed off some fantastic dance moves! Click here to see pictures.

And to top it all off, we were joyfully surprised by a very special visitor—Father Christmas himself!

In Maths, we are very close to finishing this term’s topic: multiplying by 12 and dividing by 0 and 1. The children have worked so hard and should be very proud of themselves.

Thank you for your continued support—wishing you all a joyful festive season!

Oak:

Children in Oak class enjoyed a Christmas party with their buddies from Apple class. They played pass the parcel, ate some party food and even enjoyed a visit from Father Christmas. Click here to see pictures. They have also been working hard on their DT projects -we look forward to sharing these with you all in the new year.

“She has really benefited from the different ages mixing, she often talks of the older children.

We feel all the staff know her, which is so special.”
