Welcome back to term 6! It's been a wet week, but it's not stopped us from having a fantastic time.

*** SAVE THE DATE - Friday 19th June-  Sports day for all classes at St Mark's astro turf (morning until 11am- more information to follow about transport). Children will register as usual at Swainswick Church School *** Parents and carers will be welcome to join us at St Marks and cheer the children on.

Our Christian value for the term is compassion. In celebration assembly this week, we talked about how it is national volunteer week and explored how we could volunteer to help people. We learned about a group of volunteers called 'The Knitting Nanna's' who volunteered their time to knit jumpers for penguins who were affected by an oil spill near Phillip Island (south of Melbourne in Australia). It was home to 240 penguins at the time. Jumpers can be temporarily placed on an affected penguin until its feathers can be cleaned by rescue workers. Phillip island is now home to 40,000 penguins and preparation is ongoing to help look after them in the event of an oil spill. Thanking the Knitting Nannas, Rebecca Passlow from the Penguin Foundation- which is based there - said "generous knitters and groups from all around the world" have been making jumpers to help. These volunteers have even started knitting blankets for orphan rhinos. What a fantastic thing to do!

“She has really benefited from the different ages mixing, she often talks of the older children.

We feel all the staff know her, which is so special.”
