This week, Year 6s enjoyed a visit to Lifeskills in Bristol, where they took part in an interactive safety and personal development experience set within a realistic “indoor village”. Through a range of practical scenarios, the children learned how to recognise risks, make safe and responsible choices, and prepare for the move to secondary school. They approached each challenge with maturity, demonstrating excellent teamwork, empathy and problem-solving skills. The Lifeskills staff were particularly impressed by the children’s clear thinking and thoughtful responses throughout the day. We are very proud of the way the Year 6s represented the school and embraced this valuable learning opportunity.
The Scholastic Book Fair visited our school this week, and the children in Oak Class helped to set up the books and assist in running the stall after school. Thank you to everyone for your support. Your purchases will help raise valuable funds to provide more books and reading resources for our children.
In Oak Class, we have been following the World Cup Football and to keep our flag bunting up to date, we have removed the flags of the teams that have not progressed from the group stage. We’re excited (and relieved!) that England has made it to the knockout stage.
Thursday’s “Shuffle Up Day” was a great success. The day provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to rekindle old friendships and make new ones. The children enjoyed a range of activities throughout the day, including maths with a talk partner, a getting-to-know-you quiz and an energetic game of scatterball in the playground. They also learned fascinating facts about Red Kites and used their creativity to produce some splendid Red Kite artwork. The children are looking forward to the new school year.
