It's been another jam-packed week of exciting events. Hazel class have wowed us all with their amazing performances of, 'The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse.' Their singing and acting was fantastic, and the production shared very moving messages- being kind is the most important thing, you are enough just as you are, don't compare yourself to anyone else and home is where your friends and family are. It was hard to find dry eyes in the house as the performance took place, and Sonia opened the shows brilliantly with her cello playing. Well done everyone.
We've also welcomed new Reception families for their second stay and play - it was great to see them so comfortable in the environment whilst their parents and families spent time with Mrs Simmons, Mr Rushworth and Kelly from Friends. Mr Rushworth enjoyed seeing everyone on Tuesday and is looking forward to getting to know everyone more in September.
We're getting very close to the end of term now, but still have a number of exciting things to look forward to next week. We'll share the final edition of this year's weekly roundup next week.
What’s happening in classes:
Apple: Apple class were kind friends to the new Reception pupils. It was great to see them sharing, helping and supporting the new children. Apple class are also excited about our new bike and trike shed, which was delivered this week! It's now on the playground, which means the bikes and trikes are ready to access when we have special bike times!

Hazel class have put on 3 shows- a dress rehearsal for the whole school, and performances for families on Wednesday and Thursday. Following the finale, Hazel class shared cake with their families in the classroom, because in the words of the mole, "everything is better with cake!" Pass me some of that lemon drizzle!
Oak: The children have enjoyed reflecting on the wonderful time they had at PGL last week. We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the trip such a success: our office staff, the PGL team, bus drivers, parents, teachers and, of course, the children themselves. It was an unforgettable experience and one that will be talked about for a long time to come!
Earlier this week, it was game on! Guided by Mrs Tiller and working in pairs, the children took inspiration from their favourite games to design and create their own original versions. They worked collaboratively to cut, fold, colour, paint and write, demonstrating fantastic teamwork and creativity. Once completed, they enjoyed setting up and playing their finished games together, with plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. Click here to see pictures.
Meanwhile, Year 6 have been busy preparing for their Leavers’ Service. Spending time together in the Green Room, they have created an order of service that they are excited to share with families on Monday morning. The service will include moments of humour and reflection, along with old favourites, new songs and treasured memories. We hope many of you will be able to join us at St Mary’s Church for this special occasion.
Finally, a special thank you goes to Carla, who prepares and cooks our school dinners each day. She kindly presented the Year 6 children with a gift of sweets to wish them every success and happiness for the future. Such a thoughtful gesture was greatly appreciated by all.

Calendar dates:
Monday 20th July -Leaver’s Service at Swainswick Church from 9.15am. Families from all year groups welcome. We will be saying goodbye to Year 6 as part of this service.
Tuesday 21st July - Friends pyjama day
Tuesday 21st July - Please come in after school for our 'Open Classrooms' to see children's work and celebrate their learning
Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd September - INSET days. School closed to pupils on these days.
Friday 4th September- First day back for all pupils (including Reception)- Start of Term 1 September 2026!
