Oak class visit to Stonehenge

Oak Class had a fantastic day out at Stonehenge, made even better by bright sunshine and lots of enthusiasm.  As soon as we arrived, we set off around the stones, listening intently as our guide explained how the monument was built and why its alignment with the summer solstice is so remarkable.

The excitement continued in our hands-on discovery workshop, where the class recreated a Bronze Age burial.  The children examined artefacts from the area and discussed what these clues revealed about the people who lived thousands of years ago.

Adding to the sense of wonder this week, one of the children brought in a collection of flint tools and arrowheads.  The children were fascinated to discover that these ancient objects are sharp enough to slice paper.

A fun, inspiring week that has brought history vividly to life.  And on Friday, we are looking forward to dressing up as Celtic warriors with an adventure up Solsbury Hill.

We feel all the staff know her, which is so special.”
